US life expectancy has been declining. Here’s why : Health

“The causes of liver disease can vary, from genetics to alcohol consumption and obesity.”

I’m 59 and have been drinking 2 to 3 glasses of wine a night pretty much consistently for the past 20 years or so. I know it doesn’t sound like much but evidence has shown even a moderate over a long period of time can do damage.

However, I’m very physically active, eat well (very little sugar – diabetes is also risk factor in liver disease) and take NO medications, not even over-the-counter pain relievers. So the alcohol is the only thing my liver has to deal with.

But I do worry about it – my mom died of liver disease but she was an alcoholic, drank A LOT. And took terrible care of herself. Also she was 83 and as she use to say “eh, ya gotta die of something.”
